History of Daunch and Hirschi Construction, Inc.
In 1992, Stephen Daunch & Bob Hirschi began working together on
miscellaneous construction projects in the local area. With diverse
backgrounds in various aspects of self-taught carpentry and a driving
entrepreneurial ambition, we began our vision with the construction of a 59x59
wood frame structure with metal roof panels and siding. Graduating
from conventional carpentry, we experimented with small mini-storage
projects and began learning the skills involved in the metal construction
trade. In 1994, we started to concentrate our efforts solely on the
steel erection industry and quickly became known for our self-taught
expertise in this area. As our reputation grew, we expanded our horizons in
1998 by becoming a dealer for A&S Building Systems, a subsidiary of NCI
out of Houston. With the ability to sell pre-engineered metal
buildings, our business quickly expanded and we became one of A&S's top ten
sellers within the first and second year.
Simultaneously, in 1998 we were also embarking on a momentous
opportunity that has molded the diversity of our corporation and helped bring us
to where we are today. We had the chance to join efforts with Bowen &
Watson Inc., a general contractor out of Toccoa, Georgia, on our first
two school projects. Demorest & Cornelia Elementary Schools were two
concurrent jobs that instigated our involvement in numerous school
projects ever since. These types of jobs have become the majority of our
undertakings as our reputation with Bowen & Watson and other contractors
continues to mature.
While taking on these extensive endeavors, which have all been
successful and lucrative, we have continued to expand in the areas of metal
building erection and sales as well as general contracting. In 2000, we
completed a new office and manufacturing facility for Plastek Werks as a
complete design-build project. Another project in this area of work
was a unique remodeling job for Slack Auto Parts Company in Cleveland,
Georgia. In order to minimize downtime for the store, we erected a new
pre-engineered structure around the existing store, then removed the old
structure from within.
Within the past year, we have expanded our areas of expertise to
include Construction Management for a surrounding county in northeast
Georgia. Our objectives in the capacity of Construction Managers are to
provide the efficient, economical and timely delivery of the projects by
managing the construction of the project within the time and cost
limitations and quality requirements established by the owner and the
architect. Our services during the pre-construction and construction phases
include assisting the owner in project planning, arrangement of bid
packages, bidding and negotiations of the trade contracts, and management of
the construction until its completion
As our business continues to grow, we are continuously upgrading and
innovating in order to keep up with today's market. We are a company
with vision and we are constantly preparing for the future. We hope to
continue that trend and to build upon the strong foundation of our humble
beginnings.
